Privacy policy
Your audio and transcripts stay on your computer. We don’t receive any of it.
In effect since .
What stays only on your computer
- The audio you choose to transcribe. Prontei processes it on your computer.
- The transcripts, with the message and conversation identifiers and the date.
- Your preferences (such as the language) and the speech recognition model files.
To read voice messages and show the text in the conversation, Prontei accesses the messages open in WhatsApp Web. It uses that access only to transcribe.
Usage and error data (only if you turn it on)
This sharing is off by default. It starts only if you turn it on by clicking “Share usage and error data” or through the browser permissions. If you don’t turn it on, Prontei works the same. It helps us learn where Prontei works well and fix errors.
What is sent:
- How many transcriptions were started, completed, cancelled or failed.
- Whether transcription used the graphics card or the processor (or switched from one to the other), and whether the graphics card is compatible.
- Whether the model was downloaded or was already on the computer.
- Error codes, such as
gpu-failure, without messages or details. - The audio duration and processing time, only in ranges (for example, “between 15 and 30 seconds”).
- The Prontei version, the browser and its version number, the operating system, the model used, and whether transcription ran in the background or in a tab.
- A random code that changes every month. It isn’t linked to your name, email, account or device.
What is never sent: audio, transcripts, message text, contact names or numbers, conversation identifiers and page addresses. Nothing is recorded in private windows.
Where it goes: to telemetry.prontei.com, on Cloudflare, and it is stored in a Neon database in the United States. Cloudflare sees your IP address to deliver the data, but we don’t store the IP address.
How long: the data sent is deleted after 45 days. After that only totals without any code remain, for up to 13 months. Very small groups (fewer than 10 codes) are merged with others or discarded.
How to stop or delete: turn it off whenever you want in the settings for Prontei. To delete what was already sent, use “Delete shared data”. That button doesn’t delete the totals without a code, and database backups may keep the data for up to 6 hours. If you uninstall Prontei first, you can no longer request deletion, but the data disappears on its own within 45 days.
Help messages and feedback (only when you send them)
In Contact us, you can write to the Prontei team and leave an optional email to receive a reply. The message is sent only when you click “Send”. The extension settings open this form; “Copy details” copies only the technical details.
What is sent: type, message text, email if filled in, language and Prontei version when available. In problem reports you can review the technical details and uncheck each group before sending. In Chrome, the anonymous usage data ID may be filled in only when sharing is enabled; in Firefox that ID is never passed to the site, and the version, language and technical details are filled in only with effective consent for technical data. Without that consent, Firefox opens the form without extension data. The details never include audio, transcripts, chats or contacts.
Draft: the text, email and prefilled data stay in this tab’s session storage to survive reloads and failures. They are deleted after a successful send, unless you make changes while sending. The extension data arrives in a URL fragment, removed before third-party scripts load; that fragment is not sent to the server.
Verification: the form loads Cloudflare Turnstile to confirm that a person is sending. See the Turnstile privacy addendum. Don’t include personal data unless it’s needed.
Where it goes: to telemetry.prontei.com, on Cloudflare, and it is stored in a Neon database in the United States. Only the Prontei team reads the messages; they are not published. Your IP address is used only when sending, to limit the number of submissions and for the Turnstile check. It is not stored with the message.
How long: we keep each message for up to 365 days. After that it is deleted automatically in the database’s periodic cleanup, which runs every hour.
How to delete: messages may contain your email and the anonymous ID if you include them. They are not deleted by the usage data button in the settings. To request earlier deletion, write to oi@prontei.com saying when you sent it and a snippet of the message so we can find it. Database backups may keep the data for up to 6 hours.
Other services
- Hugging Face: with your authorization, the model is downloaded from
huggingface.coandhf.co. Hugging Face receives your IP address, as with any download, but doesn’t receive your audio. See the Hugging Face policy. - WhatsApp: WhatsApp Web keeps working with WhatsApp’s own services. Prontei is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta.
- This site: it is hosted on Cloudflare, which receives normal connection data such as your IP. The site doesn’t use visitor analytics. To highlight the store for your browser, the site reads the browser identifier (user agent) on your device; that read is local, the result is not stored and is not used for any other purpose. See the Cloudflare policy.
How we use data
We don’t sell data and don’t use it for advertising, user profiles or model training. Prontei uses data in line with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, and the Mozilla Add-on Policies, including the data collection and transmission rules.
How to delete everything
To delete the transcripts, preferences and models stored on your computer, uninstall Prontei. Disabling the extension alone deletes nothing. Through the settings you can delete only the models, and the transcripts remain saved. Your WhatsApp messages are not affected.
Contact
For questions or requests about your data, write to oi@prontei.com. We don’t have access to the transcripts, which stay on your computer. Usage data has no name or email, so it can only be deleted with the button in the settings. If you send us an email, we use your address and message only to reply.
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
